Sad news, friends. I am no longer posting to Games Designed.
However, if you’ve liked my posts here, I’d encourage you to follow my new blog, alexlikesdesign. In addition to my thoughts on the design world, I’ll still be making plenty of game-inspired work. In fact, was just reblogging my game-centric work from there towards the end of this blog.
So, hopefully you’ll “click to continue”. If not, it’s been fun and thanks for sticking around this long!
Thane is is one of my favorite character in Mass Effect. While I’m currently enthralled with Mass Effect 3, I wanted to take a break and try something I haven’t done with pixels: attempt a portrait.
I’ve always admired Thane’s character design, so I figured I’d use him as a first try.
Having spent some time with DoDonPachi Resurrection on my iPhone, I wanted to make my own cool spaceship. So, during 6 hours of bus travel, I did exactly that.
However, I first sketched the ship on a Post-it during a meeting:
Then, I drew it again in my sketchbook:
Finally, after an hour of being bored on a bus, I decided to pixelize and animate it until I made what’s up top.
Silly Globox.
Every Valentine’s Day, I make my girlfriend a card. We’ve spent a lot of time playing Rayman Origins, so here ya go. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
Uploading this from 30,000 feet! Here’s what I made during my plane ride this time. I think that SWTOR just has me on a silly Star Wars kick. Beep boop.
For those of you just joining us, I make a silly pixel animation every time I’m on a plane. Plane Pixels.
When I’m on a plane, I make pointless pixel animations. Plane Pixels!
This time I asked myself, “What dented Boba Fett’s helmet?”
If you actually want to know how he got the dent, read this.
I illustrated this origami boat for a Zelda zine that Cory Schmitz is putting together.
You can make it yourself, just download and print out the two templates I made:

I am currently seeking pledges for another project, The 2012 Time Travel Calendar, via Kickstarter. It features 155 time travel events from Video games, movies, TV shows and Comics displayed on a single timeline that plays out over the year. Your help in funding it would be amazing.

If rock band guitarists break guitars, DJs should break records. Also, I’m in love with DJ Hero 2. Click through to download the high-res wallpaper.
